One of the most rewarding parts of our work is witnessing a child’s drastic improvement throughout their course of Targeted Training. The improvement each child can make brings joy and emotion to them, their family and to our staff.
Some testimonials from some people who have had experience of Targeted Training
Laura (Arabella’s Mum)– “before Arabella attended The Movement Centre she was only crawling and now she can high kneel, walk with hands held and is trying to stand up on her own. We did a lot of Targeted Training sessions with her and at every opportunity we had, we got her walking and standing up. It’s so lovely to see how far our daughter has come in her development and confidence. The Movement Centre team are great and really helped us where we needed to focus on.”
(Arlo’s Mum)– “Arlo’s overall motor abilities improved. He even surprised us by walking up the steps at the centre holding on to the rails. Arlo can knee walk holding on to a wheely stool and cruise sideways holding onto furniture. He is more confident with his sticks now too. We all loved coming to The Movement Centre. It’s probably the only therapy Arlo has ever been excited to attend and take part in. The staff are amazing and adapted the session to Arlo. He loves sport so we all spent a lot of time running around after balls. At home, Arlo loved doing the therapy program, we were able to use the frame in so many ways including just dance, basketball, baseball, throwing and catching and lots more.”
Claire (Jaxson’s Mum) – “It has been life changing. The course gave Jaxson the confidence to take those first steps and the pride on his face each time he walks by himself is 100% worth it.”
Lynne (Abbie’s Mum) – “We were told about The Movement Centre by a friend whose son had successfully completed the programme a few years before and is now independently mobile. We weren’t sure if Abbie was suitable for the programme for several reasons but right from the very first phone call everyone at The Movement Centre was very supportive and positive. Abbie has had horse riding lessons for five years and has always needed both parents with her holding onto her legs whilst she is sat on the horse, to prevent her sliding or falling off. After starting the program Abbie was soon able to sit on the horse independently, with just supervision needed. It was such a dramatic improvement; I’ll confess there were tears from both family and riding staff!!”
Matilda (Darcy’s Mum – Darcy was initially supplied with a standing frame at pelvic level to consolidate his trunk control before progressing lower. Darcy was sent home with a programme and ideas for activities to encourage reaching with both hands to engage his trunk muscles. Over the course of 12 months, Darcy had become more confident in cruising, walking along the parallel bars, pulling to stand, hands free high kneeling, and hands-free bench sitting.
Listen to what Darcy’s mum has to say, regards their experience at The Movement Centre.
