Phoebe has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and was self-referred to The Movement Centre at 4 years of age to see if she was suitable for a course of Targeted Training therapy to help with improve her trunk control.
After the assessment it was found that Phoebe had difficulties in her upper trunk which was affecting her movement development and having an impact on ability to sit independently. Phoebe was supplied with a bespoke standing frame with the support just underneath her arms

The course of Targeted Training therapy entailed Phoebe to complete 30 minutes of hands-free reaching activities every day at home and then return to The Movement Centre every 8 weeks to have a review.
At her first review there had been some improvement in Phoebe’s trunk control, so the support on the frame was lowered. Over the course of the therapy, Phoebe continued to get stronger in her trunk and achieved her sitting goals of hands-free sitting on the floor for 3 seconds and hands-free sitting on the bench for 10 seconds.
At her last review, Phoebe demonstrated how she could get up from lying to sitting. The course of Targeted Training therapy has enabled Phoebe to be more independent by allowing her to sit and play with toys, interact with others more and to transition between lying and sitting.

Phoebe has thoroughly enjoyed having a course of Targeted Training and gives it the thumbs up!
