Jacob was born prematurely at 27 weeks weighing only 2lb 5oz. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He also has a complex heart condition and is Learning Disabled. Jacob’s muscles were really tight and he came as a patient to The Movement Centre at a very young age. He was supplied with a standing frame to stretch out and strengthen his core muscles.
He really enjoyed his treatment, having loads of fun in the frame, playing games and interacting with toys. All of this helped him enormously and allowed him to be mobile and transfer.
He loved the team at The Movement Centre and we were always impressed with how professional, and fun the team were, listening to both Jacobs’ needs and the needs of his parents.
Jacob is now 18 years old and still visits Orlau, the standing frame suppliers at The Robert Jones & Agnus Hunt Hospital – as you can see he is now in a much bigger frame! He has had many surgeries on his legs and his heart but he remains strong and resolute.
Jacob now studies Hospitality and Life Skills at Derwen College, Telford and gains a huge amount of experience working at Derwen, Oswestry in the Orangery Restaurant every week. He loves charming the customers and his friends who visit. He first met Curtis from The Movement Centre after he had raised some money for them.
He was so proud of his achievements Jacob’s hopes for the future are to live and work independently. He is always positive about life and brightens any room… most of all he never complains about the challenges he faces every day.
We would like to thank everyone at The Movement Centre who has been on the journey with Jacob. Keep up the good work!
