January Roundup: A Look Back at The Movement Centre’s Month
As we step into February, let’s take a moment to reflect on what we got up to in January at The Movement Centre. From impactful sessions to community engagement, here’s a quick recap of our highlights from the past month.
Therapy Sessions and Success Stories
January was a busy month for our therapy team. We welcomed new families said goodbye to those who reached the end of their 12 month course of therapy, celebrated progress milestones, and saw incredible achievements from our Children. In January alone we have welcomed four children as they have started their 12 month course of therapy, said goodbye to four children who have completed their Targeted Training Therapy and have had four children attend The Movement Centre for their initial assessment ready to start their Targeted Training journey.
Fundraising Highlight
We kicked off the year with a New Year Concert, sadly due to Storm Darragh we had to postpone our Christmas Concert but it successfully took place on 18th January. We were extremely fortunate to have had performances by The Fron Male Voice Choir, Shawbury Military Wives Choir and Os Rocks. What an outstanding evening it was! All choirs ended the evening singing World in Union which lead to a well-deserved standing ovation, followed by the Welsh and English national anthems.
Curtis had a busy January attending both West Cheshire Chamber and Shropshire Chamber networking meetings.
Rimsha (Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist) and Helen (CEO) hosted a workshop at NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders in Birmingham, introducing families to The Movement Centre and delivering a wonderful and informative workshop to parents all about Targeted Training Therapy. This was a great opportunity for parents who access the service at NICE to see what additional services are available to support their children. From this we have received Seven referrals, so well worth the visit. We look forward to strengthening our link with NICE. NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders
Team Building & Birthday Celebrations

In our first week back after the Christmas break, we celebrated the birthdays of two members of our clinical team, which of course involved eating cake. No new year’s resolutions for healthy eating that day! ????
On 9th January, the TMC staff took part in our second team building day held at Aico, the focus of the day being ‘Conflict’. It was a very interesting day, consisting of team building exercises and a challenge to see how we would fare if we were shipwrecked. It’s safe to say some members survived with seconds to spare, others, well we’ll leave it there ????! To end the day, we discussed the Thomas Kilman Model and where we thought each of us would sit within this model. After answering the questions, we now are known as a team consisting of three turtles, three teddy bears and a fox! ????????????
That was a January Roundup. Look out for the next update soon.
