If you need a bit of inspiration our A-Z of fundraising ideas may be help
you get started.
A – Auction – Ask people or businesses to donate prizes to auction. Or you could do an auction of
promises, where people offer goods or services to be auctioned (such as cleaning cars, cutting hair
or gardening).
Abseil – Are you brave enough to abseil to raise funds? Make sure if you are it is organised by a
professional company!
B – Bag packing at local supermarket – Ask your local supermarket if you can hold a bag packing day.
It’s a great way to provide a service to the local community while supporting us too.
Battle of the bands – Challenge those budding musicians to a battle of the bands and put on a
concert to raise money.
Bingo – Organise a bingo event – devise your own calls for the numbers. Charge for entry/per game.
C – Car boot sale – there are so many car boot sales taking place throughout the year. Why not have
a clear-out and raise some money? You could also organise your own charity car boot sale!
Cake Bake – Who can turn down a good slice of homemade cake? Get baking and sale your wares at
your work place, community centre or school.
Car wash – Charge your friends, family and neighbours to wash their cars.
D – Dance-athon -Dance all day in a sponsored dance-athon.
Dress down day – Ditch the uniform or the suit and dress in your comfiest outfit. Donate a coffee – Could you donate the price of a coffee each week for a whole year
E – Easter Egg Hunt – fun for all ages and tasty too!
F – Fashion show – Put your creative talents to the test or ask local companies to lend you outfits for
the evening.
Film night – Charge entry and sell drinks or popcorn to boost your fundraising.
G – Guess The..? – Competitors pay to guess how many sweets in the jar, a cake’s weight or the
name of the teddy bear, etc. The closest answer wins the prize.
Golf Day – talk to your local golf club or mini golf course about holding a charity event.
H – Halloween party – get dressed up and have a spooky evening to raise funds.
I – It’s a Knockout – Organise an It’s a Knockout competition. It could either be a sponsored event or
pay to take part.
J – Jewellery making – Buy your own beads and get threading. Sell your products at markets and
craft fairs.
K – Karaoke night – have a sing along and raise money all at once.
Knit – get out those knitting needles and make items to sell.
L – Local races and marathons – take advantage of any local races that are established in your area.
Book a place and ask friends for sponsorship. Lent – Could you give up your favourite snack for lent and collect donations
M – Miles of coins – Set yourself the mile challenge – what is the longest distance you can reach with
a line of coins? (Bronze, silver and gold categories)
N – News Year’s Eve party – start the New Year with a bang and make a real difference too. Make it
your New Year’s Resolution Non School Uniform day – could your school hold a non School uniform day
O – Odd Jobs – help out friends, family or neighbours in return for money.
P – Plant sale – next time you’re planting seedlings or taking cuttings why not double the quantity
and have a plant sale later in the year?
Q – Quizzes – why not hold a charity quiz at your local pub, school or town hall?
R – Raffle – Ask local firms to donate prizes and sell tickets. Check raffle laws with us if in doubt.
S – Sports events – You could hold a sporting event where teams raise money to take part.
Sponsored activities – Let your imagination run wild – from a sponsored silence to a sky dive!
T – Treasure hunt – get some prizes donated and organise a set of clues leading people from one
location to the next. All participants pay a fee to enter.
Talent Competition – What special skill do you have? Do you know a budding magician or dancer?
This is their chance to shine!
U – Unwanted gift sale – Your unwanted gifts could be somebody else’s treasure. A great thing to do
after Christmas!
V – Vice – What is your biggest vice? Quit it for a month (or even longer!) and raise money at thesame time.
W – World food day – Get together with friends and prepare and sell different dishes from around
the world.
X – X-Factor Competition – Put on a singing competition and change people to enter and to watch.
Y – Yoga marathon – get sponsored to do a Yoga Marathon with your friends, family or classmates.
Z – Zumba – hold a sponsored Zumbathon – get fit and raise money all at the same time!
