This is the story of Freddie
Freddie, who has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, was found to have difficulties with his lower trunk control and this was affecting his movement development.
Freddie was supplied with a standing frame, with support at the pelvic area, and a rocking base was added to challenge his reactive control.
At his first review we could see how hard Freddie had been working doing his sessions at home. He was now able to do hands free high kneeling and do a few kneel steps as well as stand and do a few steps with one hand supported. The support on the standing frame was then lowered to just below his hips to target his pelvic control.
Freddie’s functional skills continued to develop over the course of the therapy by achieving his goals of one-handed stepping, kneel walking, and standing independently and eventually taking some independent steps. At the end of his course, Freddie was able to transfer from the floor into standing without hand support and walk across a room.
Freddie’s parents were extremely pleased with the progress he had made and said “We found everyone to be knowledgeable and friendly. The Movement Centre has an amazing approach to help our son to reach milestones we didn’t know would be possible.”
Fantastic achievement Freddie, well done!
