My name is Ollie, and I recently had the pleasure of volunteering at The Movement Centre’s Fun Run in Shrewsbury. It was an inspiring community event, and I’m grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day supporting an incredible charity.
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by a friendly and supportive team who made me feel part of the event straight away. I was assigned to the start and finish line, where I helped prepare water and doughnuts for the runners before cheering participants on as they crossed the finish line.
One moment I’ll never forget was watching a young boy sprint across the finish line with his hands in the air and the biggest smile on his face. As I presented him with his medal, the pride and excitement on his face were unforgettable. Throughout the day, there was a constant stream of laughter, encouragement, and celebration as runners of all ages completed the course, creating an uplifting atmosphere that reflected the strength of the Shrewsbury community.
Volunteers were posted all around the course ensuring a safe and supportive environment for the runners, if you listened closely, you could hear the cheers of the next station down the track.
Volunteering at The Movement Centre’s Fun Run gave me a real appreciation for the dedication of the team and the positive impact they have on families. The event was exceptionally well organised, bringing together volunteers, runners, supporters, and local businesses to raise awareness and support the life-changing work of The Movement Centre.
