Arabella was 2 years and 3 months when her parents self-referred her to The Movement Centre to see if she would benefit from a course of Targeted Training therapy. At the assessment, Arabella was found to have some difficulty with posture and movement control at pelvic level.
Arabella was set up in a standing frame aimed at initially consolidating her trunk control, before progressing to work on her pelvic control to help improve her standing and stepping abilities.
By her first review, mum said that “Arabella was now stepping with hands held with more confidence and quicker with more accurate foot placement.” By her second review, Arabella had achieved two of her goals; standing with one hand held for 3 seconds and cruising for at least 5 steps in both directions along a large bench.
By her end course review, Arabella was able to high kneel and walk on her knees, crawl on hands and feet and cruise confidently in both directions.
Arabella’s mum said
“before Arabella attended The Movement Centre she was only crawling and now she can high kneel, walk with hands held and is trying to stand up on her own. We did a lot of Targeted Training sessions with her and at every opportunity we had, we got her walking and standing up. It’s so lovely to see how far our daughter has come in her development and confidence. The Movement Centre team are great and really helped us where we needed to focus on.”
